Worship at FCC is a sacred event. We gather every Sunday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. Our two morning services are a worship expression that includes the traditional hymns and liturgy of the Christian church. Our evening service is an alternative worship expression featuring time for meditation, candle lighting, and the same positive message as our morning services. Sunday School and nursery care are provided at both the 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. services. Join us and be inspired.
Sacred Arts Ministry
We offer our worshipers a variety of traditional and contemporary music on Sundays as we gather to worship God. Sacred Arts Director, Chris Bingham, leads our Chancel Choir, Gospel Choir, Bell Choir, Children's Choir, and more. If you have a musical gift that you would like to share, contact the church office. All our musical efforts are done with the aim of helping us worship the One who created us, redeemed us, and loves us without end.
Chancel Choir: Our traditional choir is the Chancel Choir. This group provides time honored choral music, as well as contemporary music written in the traditional style, and support for the morning church services twice monthly. We prepare anthems to accompany Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month at our morning services as well as an appropriate selection for the final Sunday of each month. You can download the Call Times and Soloist Requirements here. We provide a supportive and strengthening environment for Christian fellowship with other musicians and meet weekly on Thursday nights from September to May at 7 p.m. in our Fireside Room. We encourage anyone to explore this exciting ministry opportunity by joining us for a quarter or two or even the whole year.
Gospel Choir: We're the hippest place to be at 6 p.m. on a Thursday evening! The Gospel Choir provides gospel, contemporary, and jazz style anthems during the morning services once a month. We sing and clap and dance to the music as we worship the Lord. Our goal is to inspire the congregation to join the worship through the music we provide. We generally provide the anthem for Sunday morning services on the 2nd Sunday of each month. This group is open to anyone who enjoys worshiping the Lord in joyful song. We, too, provide a supportive and strengthening environment for Christian fellowship with other musicians. You can download the Call Times and Soloist Requirements here.
Several Times throughout the year, the Chancel and Gospel Choirs combine into one huge choir for special events like Thanksgiving and Christmas Sundays. We also present a Christmas Cantata during the Advent Season and invite members of the congregation and the community to join together and tell the age-old story of Christ's birth through song and verse. All are welcome.
Emmaus Road: This group performs Bluegrass style Gospel music with acoustical instruments such as bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. We meet on Thursdays at 5 p.m. in our Fireside Room and would love to add a banjo player or any other stringed instrument to this group! You can download the Call Times for performances here.
Minor Miracles: This is our choir for children ages 5 through 3rd grade. Many of our friends from the Congregational Children's Center sing with us too. We meet during the regular school year on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary for rehearsal. We present both contemporary and traditional music - sometimes even with the combined Adult Choirs. Generally we sing once a month during the 2nd worship service. We have a great time singing with Miss Sue as we learn basic music skills. If this sounds like something your child might enjoy, please contact the church office.
Heaven Bound: This is our choir for children 4th through 6th grade. Children who come to the after school program at the Congregational Children's Center can sing in this choir as well. We also meet during the regular school year on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. On the same Sunday that Minor Miracles sing, we sing as well. We also have a great time singing with Miss Sue as we learn basic music skills. Children's Choir Information and Permission Slips are available here.
Choraleers: This group of ladies came together through the efforts of Lila Cassidy and is comprised of eight singers who have the time and inclination to practice two extra hours a week and fill in all the blank spaces in the musical calendar such as holidays, the summer, special requests at other churches in Ramona, clubs in the area, as well as once a month during both morning services. Their goal is to provide quality women's choral music that praises God and inspires others to do the same. Toward the end of each summer we search for new arrangements and accompaniments to add to the repertoire, and often Sue Trukken writes the arrangements for our a cappella pieces. We always welcome your comments and requests. If you would like to schedule us to sing for your club or group, assisted living facility, or church event, simply contact the church office.
Bell Choir: This fun group blesses the congregation with the enchanting sound of bells periodically throughout the church year. We're always looking for newbies, and learning to play isn't as challenging as you might expect. Contact the church office if you'd like to give it a try. You can download the Call Times here.
Someday Home: This local worship team leads worship most Sundays at our 4:30 p.m. alternative service. The music is passionate, contemplative, and conducive to falling in love with the Lord, for the first time or all over again. Acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, and more are used to draw us into a place of worship.
