At the First Congregational Church, we consider it a privilege when guests gather with us on Sunday. We want you to feel welcome when you visit us so here are some quick answers to common questions about us and our Sunday gatherings.
What is FCC about?
Love. Loving God and loving people. Jesus Christ is the head of our church and we are devoted to fulfilling the greatest command he gave his followers, namely, living a life of love (Mark 12:28-34; Ephesians 5:2). We believe living a life of love requires us to focus on three things:
Connecting with others – developing supportive spiritual relationships.
Growing in spiritual wisdom – expanding our understanding of God's Word and its application in daily life.
Becoming devoted followers of Jesus Christ – using our gifts and abilites to serve in the way of Christ.
When and where are your services?
Sundays – 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. Our Sunday gatherings are in our church building at 404 8th Street, Ramona, CA 92065. Additional parking is available across the street. Worship is in the sanctuary, Sunday School for children and youth are in our classrooms and youth building, and childcare for infants and toddlers is in our nursery.
What should I wear?
The choice is yours. You will find a range of dress styles from jeans and t-shirts to slacks and dresses. In general, our morning services tend to be slightly more semi-formal in attire and our evening service is thoroughly informal. Come dressed in whatever makes you comfortable and you will fit right in!
What are your services like?
Our morning services feature the best of traditional hymnody, organ and piano music, and a variety of anthems and songs from five different choirs, including a children's choir and bell choir. Our evening service is more contemplative in nature with time for meditation, candle lighting, and contemporary Christian music. Our pastor offers rich thoughtful messages at all three gatherings. We celebrate the sacrament of holy communion on the first Sunday of each month at our morning gatherings, and weekly at our evening gathering, as one way to remember with gratitude that Christ gave his life for us.
What is there for my family?
Each Sunday, children from preschool through high school gather to learn about the Bible and God's love in age-appropriate small group environments at both our 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. services. Periodically throughout the year there are special events where the children will sing or share a presentation with the adults in the sanctuary. And on the first Sunday of the month at our 4:30 p.m. gathering the chidlren are invited to stay with their parents for worship together before heading off to Sunday School.
Where do I go for questions?
You may talk with any of our friendly greeters and they will be happy to assist you with any questions you have about FCC.
How can I get to know other people?
We offer a variety of small groups meeting during the week designed to help people connect with others, grow in spiritual wisdom, and become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our many opportunities to serve others through missions is another great way to get connected. Also, after worship each Sunday, you're invited to linger and mingle as we enjoy coffee and fellowship. It's an easy way to meet new people. And, annually in the spring, we offer a new member orientation and breakfast for those interested in joining and learning more about FCC. All are welcome!
