National Day of Prayer 2024

Today is the National Day of Prayer! Since 1952, The National Day of Prayer has been an official day of observance designated by the United States Congress. While this day is more of an American holiday than it is a church holy day, it is still an important day to stop and turn to God to receive the grace of prayer. So use this as an excuse to take some time to pray today. Prayer is difficult sometimes, so any excuse for a reminder is a good excuse. At its core, prayer is something that’s initiated by God. God invites us into the grace of prayer to hear from God, to bring our concerns, and share our joys with God. Prayer is an opportunity to simply be in relationship with God, it’s not all about asking for things. But God desires to hear what we long for. It’s important that we bring our requests to God so that we can learn to trust God more and more with the cares that weigh on our souls. So let this be a day where you cast your cares upon Jesus! And when you pray, here are some things you can pray for:

  • Pray for the people of Ramona; for those in our community who are hurt, suffering, grieving, ill, experiencing homelessness, or feeling unappreciated.

  • Pray for the people of the United States of America; for the poor and marginalized, the ones experiencing persecution and discrimination, those who need the good news of Jesus Christ.

  • Pray for the people in Gaza and Israel. Pray for peace and justice to prevail.

  • Pray for the whole world. Pray that God's love will be shown and that God will be all in all, so that everyone will be welcomed, fed, cared for, and loved.

  • Pray, "Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven."
