A Prayer For A Monday

By Wes Ellis

Mondays are not fun days….

At least not in my experience…

Whether you work a regular 9 to 5 or are retired, there’s just something about Mondays, isn’t there? Whether by virtue of the fun of the weekend… the lack of fun of the weekend… or by cultural osmosis, Mondays seem like a real downer for most of us.

But what if we decided to take a deep breath and receive this particular Monday (or Tuesday or whatever…. I don’t know when you’re reading this) as a gift and as an opportunity to live a life of love? I think perhaps our whole perspective may change.

So whatever day this may be, I invite you to pause….

….take a deep breath….

Seriously. I’m not kidding. Do it.

And pray this prayer either silently or out loud:

God, this is a day that you have made. And you don’t make bad things. Let me rejoice. Let me receive today as a gift. And let me be a light to those around me. In your mercy, God, let today be a blessing. Amen.
